24per cent people in the UK have a disability so creating an inclusive workplace is critical. Despite recent improvements in legislation there is still a huge disparity for people who are disabled. This includes lower employment rates. Directors have legal, statutory and moral responsibilities for ensuring workplaces are inclusive for all. Currently 80per cent of disabled people have a hidden disability which covers a wide range of physical and mental conditions that are not visible or immediately obvious.
