“I wanna tell you a story”

In the words of the late great Max Bygraves “I wanna tell you a story”

Who? I hear you say!

He was a comedian, singer and actor and was probably at his height in the seventies and the eighties when hosted family fortunes.

But what can we learn from his catch phrase?

Stories are the best way of telling everyone what you do and how you do it. When I was a membership advisor for the FSB the easiest way of selling the services and people remembering what they were was to explain how the services had supported other members.

Obviously you don’t want to give away all your magic but you do want to explain quickly at an event what you do and the businesses you want to work with or for and stories are the easiest way to do it.

You don’t have to name your clients but as you are telling your story they will be thinking of people they can recommend you too but remember you have to build up a relationship first before you will be introduced as it is all down to knowing, liking and trusting each other.

So think of a short story for events an then consider a longer story for your 1-2-1.

Remember “The Fortune Is In The Follow Up”
